Hand-carved from natural tanzanite
A cushion-shaped tablet carved across its full face in the Mughal manner — a rosette at the centre, framed by lotus petals and scrolling vine work that turns in on itself at each corner. The design is cut in intaglio, so the light catches along the raised edges of every line while the recesses hold shadow, giving the surface depth that a plain cabochon of the same stone would not have.
This style of carved gemstone plaque traces back to the Mughal ateliers, where large flat stones were treated as surfaces to be worked rather than faceted. The natural inclusions and darker markings running through the stone are original to the crystal and confirm its natural origin. Carved by hand at our family atelier in Jaipur.

Tanzanite is a relatively soft stone with perfect cleavage and is sensitive to knocks and sudden temperature change. Clean with lukewarm water and a soft cloth only — never use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner. Store separately from harder stones.
