Hand-carved from natural aquamarine, 62.59 carats total

A matched pair of leaves carved from natural aquamarine in a deep sea-blue, each cut with a raised central spine, fanned vein work sweeping outward, and a deeply scalloped edge. The carving is worked in relief rather than incised flat, so the veins stand proud of the surface and the light travels through the thinner sections at the tips.

The leaf is one of the oldest forms in Indian lapidary, carved for Mughal-era jewels where the stone's own transparency was the point — the design was cut to let light move through the material rather than to sit on top of it. Both stones here are cut to the same depth and profile, matched to be worn or mounted as a pair. Carved by hand at our family atelier in Jaipur.
