An owl carved in the round from a single piece of natural ruby, shown here from three angles. The carving is worked deeply for its size: a ridged brow crest, radiating feather lines around each eye, a hooked beak, layered breast plumage, and talons gripping the base. The reverse is finished with equal attention — a swept wing sweeping down the back rather than a flat, unworked side.
The colour reads as a deep raspberry-red, even across the body, with the polish bringing up a glassy surface across the carved detail. Carved by hand at our family atelier in Jaipur.
